Suite Scarlett Giveaway

I am hosting a contest for 5 paperback copies of Suite Scarlett by Maureen Johnson!

Her new summer job comes with baggage.

Scarlett Martin has grown up in a most unusual way. Her family owns the Hopewell, a small hotel in the heart of New York City, and Scarlett lives there with her four siblings โ€“ Spencer, Lola, and Marlene.

When each of the Martins turns fifteen, they are expected to take over the care of a suite in the once elegant, now shabby Art Deco hotel. For Scarlettโ€™s fifteenth birthday, she gets both a room called the Empire Suite, and a permanent guest called Mrs. Amberson.

Scarlett doesnโ€™t quite know what to make of this C-list starlet, world traveler, and aspiring autobiographer who wants to take over her life. And when she meets Eric, an astonishingly gorgeous actor who has just moved to the city, her summer takes a second unexpected turn.

Before the summer is over, Scarlett will have to survive a whirlwind of thievery, Broadway glamour, romantic missteps, and theatrical deceptions. But in the city where anything can happen, she just might be able to pull it off.

To enter, tell me what you have done/plan to do this summer! +1 if you link this contest. The deadline to enter is July 17. Winners will be announced July 18.

EDIT: I forgot to mention this earlier, but this contest is US only. Sorry, I promise I will have an international contest soon!

For more information on the book, visit the amazon page or Maureen Johnson’s site. ๐Ÿ™‚

I have already gone to the beach and I got to see Anthony Rapp reprise his role in RENT & I saw the Indigo Girls in concert. As for the rest of the summer- I am in the play Alice in Wonderland, I will be going to a week long training so that I will be “highly qualified” to teach algebra (I am a middle school math teacher), I have to write and teach a color guard routine. I am also going to see Wicked in a couple of weeks.

Somewhere in there I plan to read a bunch of books bc my goal is to read 100 this calendar year. I am a little behind.

This summer I will be leaving Austria and heading back home to Minnesota to visit my family and friends, taking it easy and enjoying things like Target, Taco Bell, fast internet, having a car, Minnesota Nice, potlucks, and other things that are seriously lacking in this country and that I haven’t experienced for 9 months.

    Wrock shows.

For the remainder of the summer I’m going to be working on summer reading for school and The Brothers Karamazov because I loves it. And hopefully getting some writing in.

I made a video about the linkses of the contests.

  20. Joshua says:

Well, this summer I have gone to Sacramento to visit my brother. While I was there, someone started a fight with him, and while he did win, his nose was also broken. So I decided to stay until his hospital stuff was done. For a month, I survived on my $400 tax return. By the end of the month in Sacramento, I literally had change left in my bank account. Less than a dollar. Less than 75 cents. Since getting back a little over a week ago, I have tried to find a job, and gone to the library to get some books. I’ve gotten Looking for Alaska by John Green, Paper Towns by John Green, Interworld by Neil Gaiman, The Key to the Golden Firebird by Maureen Johnson, and 13 Little Blue Envelopes by Maureen Johnson. and that’s really all I have planned for a while yet.

  21. Joshua says:

Oh, also I linked you on Twitter.

  22. Kendra says:

I am planning on doing a lot this summer. I am visiting colleges because I’m going to be a senior in high school (I just took my first tour today). I am also doing a lot of work with my church’s Youth Ministry. I’m going to a service camp the rest of this week, then in July I’m going to Lifest which will be awesome. The highlight of my summer is a mission trip to Nebraska for a week (it’s a 10 hour drive…which won’t be a ton of fun but I’m looking forward to the trip). Also in July the 6th Harry Potter movie comes out and I’m going to the midnight release for that. Other than those things I’m not doing that much just relaxing and reading. ๐Ÿ™‚

  23. Becca says:

I am going to my first ever music festival and am very excited about it!

This summer, I am visiting my friend in St. Louis, visiting schools in Philadelpia and NYC, and going to a wedding then on a family vacation to Venice. It will be big fun!

  25. Melissa says:

Then I am going to Germany for a month, and then band camp!
    It’s going to be awesome.

I’m volunteering at my local art centre as a Teacher’s Assistant in their summer art camp. ๐Ÿ™‚ Basically, it’s cleaning brushes and chasing 8-year-olds around, but it’s pretty fun! Plus, if I stick around for long enough I think I’ll be able to land a paid position at the centre in September!
I also plan on catching up with my book list and in the spirit of reading I’ll be participating in Infinite Summer (http://infinitesummer.org) where participants read Infinite Jest by David Foster Wallace over the course of the next three months. I sure hope I finish, I hear it’s really tough in your first read-through.

I have school most of the summer, but I’m not going to let that stop me! Last week I saw Fiddler on the Roof downtown in Chicago, Topol’s last run! I also went out to a nice dinner beforehand. The day after I get out of school–August 7–is also my birthday and my friend is flying in from Missouri to stay with me for a week, which is exciting enough already. On my birthday we’re hopefully going to see Spring Awakening and spending the day in downtown Chicago seeing the sights and having fun! And then I’m going to spend the rest of the summer reading, watching youtube, and relaxing…for the month before I start school again, haha.

  57. Liviania says:

Great giveaway! This summer I’m studying abroad – I can’t wait. It’ll be the first time I *really* leave the country. (I went to Canada for lunch once. The customs officer hassled us returning because apparently that’s not a real reason to cross the border. Least not if you’re from Texas.)
